Anaheim 2 – 2019 Supercross

January 19, 2019

Anaheim, Ca: Round 3 of the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross marked the first Triple Crown event of the season. This format features qualifying and a LCQ during the day; then the top 22 riders in each class advance to the night show that consists of three Main Events.

Rain storms all week threatened to provide us with another mudder; but luck was on our side Saturday when the sun came out. Thank you to Dirt Werks and the Track Crew for working around the clock all week to ensure the integrity of the track for race day. All the riders and team were thankful to not have another mud race so soon in the season.

Ben Lamay sat in 19th place after the day qualifiers which meant he would be lining up for the LCQ with hopes of making his way into the evening program. Ben came out swinging and led the entire race, grabbing the checkered flag and a spot in the Main Event. He got 18th overall for the night with his 18th, 16th and 15th place finishes in Main Events 1,2 & 3. Though he would have liked to be higher up on the leader board, he’s happy with the 5 extra points and looks forward to the rest of the season.

Austin Politelli’s day started out a little slower then he would have liked; but when the gate dropped in the LCQ he took off and didn’t look back. Austin rode to an incredible 3rd place and secured one of 22 coveted night show spots. His finishes of 22nd, 19th and 19th in Main Events 1,2 & 3 respectively gave him an overall finish of 21st. Austin scored his first 2 points of the season, and can’t wait to add more to his score card next week in Oakland.

Blaine Silveira and Mason Wharton pushed it in qualifying and put in 100% effort in their LCQ; but with 44 other riders all vying for the honors, the odds weren’t in their favor. Both riders are enjoying learning new lessons, gaining speed and feeling more comfortable on the race track each week. We’re only 3 races in, so these boys have a lot of season ahead of them; we can’t wait to see what they will do.
