Glendale, Arizona – The TPJ Racing team made their way to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ for round 2 of the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross. The rain last weekend left riders thankful that round 2 was held in an enclosed stadium; one less thing they had to worry about.
Mason Wharton # 767 qualified 34th overall for the day; he was excited to line up during the night show and get some more experience under his belt. Mason rode his Kawasaki KX250F to a season best finish of 13th in both heat 1 and the LCQ.
Blaine Silveira had lady luck on his side this past weekend. He qualified 41st for the day, which meant he would have to pack up his bags and wait for round 3 to compete again…but, when there was an open spot on the gate of heat 1 he got called up. Blaine rode to an impressive 14th place finish in heat 1, and finished 17th in the LCQ. Not bad results for a rookie with only 2 races down.
Austin Politelli’s 2019 season has not gone to plan; bike problems at A1 left him out of the Main Event and having to use his practice bike at round 2 was less than desirable. Through it all, he’s stayed positive and given 100% to his racing effort. Austin qualified 22nd overall for the day, and was one position away from qualifying out of Heat 1 directly to the main event (10th place finish). A gnarly crash on the start straight of the LCQ left Austin out of breath and out of the finals. He is healthy and ready for round 3 this weekend.
Ben Lamay was on the gas this past weekend qualifying 19th heading into the night show. A great start left Ben with the final transfer spot out of heat 2 moving him straight to the main event. He said “Small mistakes” led to his poor 19th place finish in the main. Ben sits in 18th in the championship points standing with a total of 9 points; he looks forward to the rest of the season and securing additional points.
Overall, the team is off to a great start for 2019 and we look forward to progressing over the next 15 rounds.
