TORONTO 2017

This week, the TPJ Fly Racing team took the trip over the border to the Monster Energy Supercross event in Toronto.

Our eight riders weren’t afraid of the cold in Canada this weekend – they turned up the heat in qualifying and all eight of them qualified for the night event. Nick Schmidt was looking great on his Suzuki and qualified with the fastest lap time in the 450 B group.

The athletes had great momentum going into the night show, but they were up against a stacked field and a tough track. Our 250 Suzuki rider, John Short lined up in the first heat of the 250 class and made his way through a stacked pack all the way into a qualifying position. He was able to maintain his spot and fight off other riders all the way to the checkered flag – qualifying for the main event.

This is Short’s first main event of the year – and he worked hard for it. We are very proud of his efforts and are thankful to the sponsors who gave him the tools he needed to reach this milestone for the season. After his performance this weekend we have faith that he will continue to excel throughout the east coast championship.

In the 450 class, Nick Schmidt was able to qualify soundly out of the LCQ – he has qualified for nearly every main event this season and continues to progress. The Enticknap brothers put on an entertaining battle for qualifying position in the LCQ, but Adam would pull ahead into the final qualifying spot. Both Schmidt and Adam Enticknap would also battle and receive ample television time on Fox Sports 1.

During the battle for position, Enticknap went for a pass and Schmidt passed Enticknap a mid-air “hang loose” which was captured by Fox Sports 1 super-slo-mo, and has gone viral on the Internet.

Moments like these remind us why we love this sport. This image has been passed all over the internet as it reminds fans and friends why they do it – for the fun.

Adam Enticknap and Nick Schmidt would go on to the main event, and Tyler Enticknap would narrowly miss a qualifying position – TPJ Fly Racing rider Dustin Pipes would finish not far behind him. Although Tyler may have missed the main, each week he gets a position closer and makes faster laps around the track. We are looking forward to seeing how he can do in Daytona.

It was very exciting for us to have three riders in the mains this weekend. We are very proud of John Short, Adam Enticknap and Nick Schmidt and are happy to see their hard work pay off. We are sure that the rest of the team will be making mains soon.

The next round will be in Daytona, FL as a part of bike week. We hope to see friends, family and sponsors there to enjoy the races with us. Thank you for all of your support.
