PIPES OUT, SCHMIDT COMPETES IN FINAL ROUND
After 11 rounds of racing nearly every week, the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross outdoor series came to a close at twelfth and final round in Crawfordsville, IN at the Ironman National.
With each class championship already wrapped before coming into this round, racers clawed for valuable points and to make work of the last bit of seat time for the outdoor season.
After sustaining an injury at the Budds Creek National, TPJ Fly Racing Suzuki team rider Dustin Pipes decided it was best to stay off the bike and focus on recovery — focusing his energy on the 2017 season.
Although Pipes was out for the final round, TPJ Racing rider Nick Schmidt made it to the Ironman National to bang bars with the best riders in the world one last time for the outdoor season. Schmidt was strong in practice and was able to qualify for the main event, where he finished 38th overall.
This season has been a wild ride – the TPJ Fly Racing Suzuki team would not be able to compete at such a professional level without the support of our sponsors; and it’s the love from the fans that brings smiles to our riders’ faces week after week.
Even though the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross outdoor series has come to a close, TPJ Racing still has several events before a break until the 2017 season. We will be on site at the 2016 MXGP event in North Carolina Sept. 2-3. We hope to see you there.
